Rodarte, Fall 2012
I have been a huge Rodarte fan since I can remember. Full of imagination, color, and interesting techniques, the clothes are beautiful on runways, standouts in magazines, and true stunners up close. This season marked the arrival of a more wearable Rodarte; the usual colorful yarn, burnt cheesecloth, and spiked shoes were swapped out for bomber jackets, yummy knits, and a neutral pallet that would be perfect for Amelia Earhart if she was vacationing on the prairie. Don’t be fooled by all this simplicity though. Take a look at the details page on Style.com and you get to see my favorite whimsical detail: all of the heels on the shoes are plastic and filled with sand art. The clothes might be a bit more tame, but Kate and Laura still have a few tricks up their sleeves that keep Rodarte the way we like it.

Week In Review: July 30th-August 3rd
My obsession with Vampire Diaries is still going strong and showing no signs of stopping whatsoever. I’m almost done with season two and I am so glad I’ve still got a season left before the new one comes out! I mean, what would I do at 2 am in the morning if I ran out of episodes to watch?! Crisis!
These suede boots would be perfect for fall! Tights, colorful skirt, and a nice warm sweater would complete that look. My search for an affordable pair of ankle booties that don’t make my calves look huge continues.
The Olympics are in full swing and my whole family couldn’t be happier. The TV is on almost 24/7 and there’s always someone watching. Men’s gymnastics, tennis, The lovely Ms. Douglas, rowing, swimming, even women’s handball. If it’s being covered on NBC, there’s an Ukah family member glued to the screen. When the Track and Field events start next week, it’s gonna be a party at my house.
Speaking of the Olympics, I heard this song in a Fruit of the Loom trampolining commercial after watching the Women’s Team Gymnastics finals (how AMAZING was that by the way?!) and fell in love with it.I know it’s random getting songs from underwear commercials, but it was so pretty and ethereal I had to get it on my ipod right away. It’s called “Bring Me Close” by Mindy Glendhill. You should get it for free on the official website by clicking that link. It was produced by Celine Dion so you know it’s good.
I finally got around to watching Moonrise Kingdom this week. I liked it, but not as much as I thought I would. I loved the characters (Sam was adorable), and the soundtrack too, but I was a little disappointed. It’s hard to put into words, but I think my problem with the film was that I couldn’t relate to a lot of it. I don’t do camping. And all the antics of the characters just had me thinking along the lines of “white people are crazy why did they just do that? What am I watching?” It was fun to watch, I loved the part when the two of them were in the Moonrise Kingdom cove just dancing to French music and awkwardly kissing. Really though, other than that one scene the whole movie was just a blur of camping and kids being odd and annoyingly stupid parents. Meh.
I bought my backpack for next year! I leave in 18 days and things are getting serious. I typed up a packing list of everything I’m going to need to bring with me or buy. The reason I like this canvas rucksack so much, is because it’s cuter than just a plain old jansport backpack, but it still has the space that any other backpack would. Perfect for toting my macbook Garfield around from class to class. Plus it was basically free since I bought it onsale for 22 dollars at the store with my Macy’s giftcard I got from my grad party. What’s not to love indeed?
Plans for the weekend - I have two graduation parties to attend. Two in the same day! I don’t mind though because now that I’m leaving so soon, I’m glad to have these chances to see all the people I’m going to miss next year from high school. The good thing about summer is that you can see who you want to see and avoid who you want to avoid! No more of those annoying hallway run-ins with obnoxious people you were forced to see everyday.

Natural hair wearing nail-art loving Nigerian girl. Harvard 2016! Things I enjoy: laughter, bargains, wishlists, questions, thrifting, crafting, good times and good books, Frank Ocean, and lots of other things. There's no method to my madness, everything on here is just a giant smorgasbord of random. Enjoy!
