The beat + that funky guitar riff + Solange’s breathy vocals that take me to another land where it’s 72 degrees and there’s a warm breeze and I’m wearing a crop top and shorts and I’m sipping on my raspberry Juice It Up Shake. This song is giving me so much joy right now.

I also really love when an artist can take a song and totally reinterpret it and make it their own. Solange for the win. I’m still so bitter I didn’t go see her when she was in Boston for 20 dollars, but life goes on.

Can I just say how wonderful it is to be able to walk around with skin showing once more? I will never take the sun for granted again. I will never bemoan the hassle of shaving my legs again. I will never complain about heat or sweat or tanlines or anything that has to do with sun ever again. My only gripe is that it’s only getting warm now…and school is about to get out anyways!

This skirt and jacket were two of the items I bought from the thrifting trip I did over spring break (the one where I got the JCrew shorts for 5 dollars. It’s a day that’ll go on for ever in my memory). I wore the skirt with a white blouse for a casual Easter look, then I twisted things up and rocked it with a bandeau for something a bit more scandalous! I didn’t even think it was that scandalous though, since I AM wearing a jacket on top so the only real skin showing is a bit of my midriff, but I digress. I just had fun styling that bright yellow skirt different ways : ) Hiphiphooray for versatile attire.

I like making silly faces
I don’t like studying for finals
I do like soaking up the sunshine and the weeks I have left as a freshman with the friends I made this year : )

Bimmer captured my heart and ears even as a little 1 minute snippet. Now that it’s on Wolf, it’s still only the ending part of a 7 minute song, but that’s okay with me, because this song is my jam.

I actually had the snippet memorized, because that’s how many times I played it on youtube. What first drew me to this song was the fact that Frank Ocean was featured on it (you guys know I can’t resist the call).

What kept me playing this song over and over and over and over again, was the off kilter beat, witty metaphorical lyrics (the references to her trunk space and headlights made me giggle I love a good pun even if it’s a bit dirty), and just the overall feel of the song.

And when Frank started singing it gave me shivers. But what else is new. The true testament to this song though, is the fact that I LOVE it, even though I very much dislike Tyler the Creator. And because I LOVE this song so much, I gave the rest of this album a chance and was very pleasantly surprised.

Outfit of the Day - March 27th AKA Game of Thrones and Little House on the Prairie

I haven’t done a post on the clothes I bought from the thrift store trip I did with my friends over the weekend, but I did post that instagram photo about the JCrew shorts because I was too excited to not put that up immediately : ) During the trip though, I saw this skirt shirt twin set that was extremely pioneer/frontierish. It also looked like something my a white grand mother might wear to church with gloves and a big hat. Something about the material just really made me want to buy it! So I did! Ten dollars for the skirt and shirt.

Alright so together, the skirt and shirt are a bit much. The picture on the left middle is me modeling the complete head to toe curtain look that my roommates dubbed “Black Laura Ingalls Wilder Living on the Prairie” which was pretty accurate. I was getting more Medea vibes though

Because the shirt and skirt is actually really really close to that print. Anyways, I decided to update it so I wouldn’t be walking around looking like I stepped out of Tyler Perry Land, so I paired the shirt with my 5 DOLLAR STUDDED HIGH WAISTED SHORTS from Goodwill.

Hey. If you’re paying more than 10 dollars for a pair of shorts, then you’re doing it wrong because there’s actually not even enough fabric to justify. Gotta be about that Goodwill prowling.

This was also what I wore to the HBO and Harvard Tivli exclusive screening of the Game of Thrones Season 3 Premiere. So good. I don’t think I’m allowed to say much else, because they were pretty strict about pointing out that when I checked in I made an agreement to not record, or ruin anything, so all I’ve got to say is that I’m excited to rewatch it on Sunday. That’s how good it was. I am eagerly awaiting the chance to watch the episode that I already watched. They just did a really great job of setting things up for the rest of the season : ) Can’t wait.
