FALL FASHION TRENDS 2012  (and how to actually wear them without getting weird stares from people at school)
July is almost through and next thing you know, it will be August - aka official back to school shopping month! You need a head start on all things fall fashion trends right now if you want to be prepared! Here’s a heads up from the wonderful ladies strutting their skinny stuff down the runways at fashion week.
Did I actually go to fashion week? No of course not *crosses fingers* maybe someday in the future though. Due to my lack of presence in the front rows, I picked the original pictures up online and links (as always) are provided in the click through.
Before I take you to the three main trends, can we all take a moment to appreciate the wittiness of my “That Sheath Cray” title? I just thought that was REALLY clever!
No Fear Sheer

Silk Sheer Tank, Black Unitard, Statement Collar Necklace
This is pretty much a buildup on what I call the explosion of semi see through shirts and fabrics. Go to any Forever 21 or store in the mall and you’ll see racks on racks on racks - hehe another Watch the Throne reference - of chiffon blouses, sheer dresses, on and on and on. For an embellished approach, try a little bit of bold! A sheer tank dress worn over a unitard (or not if that’s how you roll) paired with statement collar necklaces says that you have no fear of sheer.
Military Made

Bralet, Studded Shorts, Camo Sneakers
Military seems to always be in style and I like to think that it’s because we all love the armed forces so darn much, and not because army green is such a great color to match with everything. Regardless of your motives, the military look is easy to duplicate. Instead of going head to toe camo on everyone (never okay. unless you’re actually on the battlefield) work in army inspired elements such as studs, spikes, greens and browns.
Poppin Print Party

Patchwork Tank, Mint Skirt, Printed Fedora, Ikat Oxford
I have way too many prints in my closet. Last time I checked I had 4 different printed shorts, a pair of printed capris I got on sale from TJ Maxx for four dollars, 3 floral print dresses in different styles, and other items that I’m just not going to list because I’ve already made my point. One consequence of so many printed pieces, is that sometimes it’s hard for me to find things to wear them with…since all I have are prints. No longer a problem. Just wear all your prints together! Except not really because then you’ll look a little crazy. However, do try playing around a little bit. Stripes and florals are great and even better when they share a common color. Ikat mixed with paisley? Cheetah print and polka dots? Do what you wanna, but try to through in a plain colored item to balance it out!
Kooky Knits

Sweater (sold out. it’s that cute), Earrings, Boyfriend Capris, Black Suede Pumps
I’m going to give you all a great tip. With fall rolling round, you’re going to be seeing some really cool, comfy sweaters in the stores. You might even be tempted to shell out thirty or more dollars for some nice, thick, oversized cardigans or something. Don’t do it. DO NOT DO IT. Walk out of there as quick as you can and head over to your local Goodwill or Salvation Army. There, you’ll find an abundance of comfy sweaters; lots of them in really fun patterns and styles! You’ll thank me later. If you’re still in there and it’s been over 2 hours and you haven’t found anything…then I’m sorry you weren’t lucky and you can go ahead and buy the one you wanted to buy at Urban.
Other TrendsThese are other trends that I just didn’t feel like making outfits for. Be on the lookout for these styles and the ones above this fall!
1. Leisure suits are back! Blazers, trousers, matching or not, business is casual again.
2. Deep burgundy wine shades will be all over the place this fall. You don’t have to go out and buy a dark red fur coat though. That’s a little bit much.
3. Metallic materials! Adding a little bit of shimmer to the everyday.
4. Leather, leather, lots of leather. Perfect of those chilly November days.
5. Monochrome dressing and all white everything. I don’t know if it’s a revolt against the color blocking that was so popular this summer and spring, but monochrome dressing seems to be making a comeback.
There you go! Happy shopping everyone!
